Red Dragon Fullscreen outselling the WS

Is this normal for a movie such as this? I mean, I could see the Fullscreen of Harry Potter outselling the WS because its a kids movie, but this kind of suprises me for Red Dragon. The same thing seems to be happening with Jackass as well.

If you combine the Director's Edition with the Widescreen you might get higher numbers than the Full Screen.

Also purchases by Blockbuster and WalMart can throw off the numbers vs. titles actually showing up in peoples hands. All I can hope is that the trend doesn't continue.

That was my thinking too, does anyone know where the actual numbers are?

Also, the DE is kinda hard to find around me. Anyone else having this problem?

Sucks if P&S is outselling the combined DE and WS versions of Red Dragon.

Somewhat on topic, what were the sales figures for 8 Mile? At my job the full screen sold very well (which is quite the horror).

Well it's interesting to see that on Billboard's charts, the Red Dragon Widescreen is on top:

Billboard's Top DVD Sales

And in this ranking, even Jackass Widescreen outnumbers the Full Screen version.

Maybe because you can get 2 fullscreens for the price of 1 director's cut.

Maybe its because the only type of person that would buy Red Dragon would also prefer fullscreen.

Maybe it just says omething about the type of people who liked the film? (present company exempted)

It's an annoying trend, but what can you do? I doubt we're in any danger of moving towards FS only. Just means they'll keep offering both versions. And we'll continue to have to be extra careful we don't grab the wrong one by mistake! (speaking from personal experience)
