Star Trek: Screen Voyages Widescreen Giftset.. anyone have this?

I'd like to purchase the 1st three star trek movies and did a price search. I found the Star Trek: Screen Voyages Widescreen Giftset and was wondering if this had individual cases for each movie or was it all in one case?

I'm floored by the price as each movie individually is in the $22.00/each range. Heck, I'd spend the same amount buying the giftset and have 6 movies!

I'd appreciate any detailed info from an owner of this set.

It's a holiday weekend so things are pretty slow. I'd wait until mid-week before dragging out the goggly-eyed smiley.

The screen voyages box set has individual cases for each film. But Paramount has been re-releasing the Star Trek film again as two disc sets with some (depending how you feel about ST), significant extras.

Personally, I was pretty happy with the director's cut of The Wrath Of Kahn and although I have the two disc sets for ST3 & ST4, I haven't watched them yet, so I can't really comment on their worthiness. I'm not sure if the screen voyages set has all the double discs sets released (so far) included. As yet, Paramount has shown no signs of stopping their double dipping. So I'd weigh out what you'll get now against what you're willing to repurchase later.

If you don't really care about the extras then I think the screen voyage set would be a good buy, but check EBay first because I'm sure there's some people who might be practically giving away their "pre re-releases" as they buy the new sets.

'cause some of us completists are just sick like that . . .

~Cheers~

If you want them cheap you can get the first 3 ST movies in thier SE version at Columbia House as enrollment selections. That's what I did for the first 2, and will do for the fourth movie.
