Best version for Halloween 2
Hi
I need your help.
I would like to buy the best dvd version of halloween 2 .
Goodtimes or Universal version ? and why ?
Any more ideas ?
It is possible that a Halloween II special edition will be released this year ?
Thanks
Edgler

The Universal one would be my choice.
I mean, both Goodtimes and Universal have widescreen transfers, but
the Universal one has the original trailer from 1981, too cool...
The Goodtimes one is barebones.
Hope this helps.

The goodtimes version is non anamorphic but 7.99 or cheaper at most places, the universal version is anamorphic but goes for 24.99, maybe 29.99, not sure on how they priced it. Unless you have a widescreen tv, go for the goodtimes version, the universal from reviews is SLIGHTLY better then the goodtimes version but you can save 10-20 dollars on getting the goodtimes cut.

I own both and the Universal has a *slight* edge in the picture department. Definitely not enough to spend big bucks on though...
Get the Goodtimes if you can find it cheap (it's OOP, although easy to find). I suspect that Universal will revisit this one in the next couple of years.

If you can find the Goodtimes version for $5 (which is possible), you get the following:
- Decent 2.35:1 Non-Anamorphic Transfer
- English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Sound
- Interactive Menus with the Film's Score
If you have a widescreen TV, then you'll have to pay $20 for the Universal edition which contains:
- Decent 2.35:1 Anamorphic Transfer
- English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Sound
- Trailer
- Decent 2.35:1 Non-Anamorphic Transfer

- Interactive Menus with the Film's Score

I heard that they were gonna do a se for it, but they dropped it at the last second, but since the movie is officially a universal title, they released it anyway.

While the original trailer is awsome(downloaded it long ago from the official halloween site).
The Goodtimes is the better way to go unless of course you have a WS set & can waste $$$ on whatever you want.
Besides if/when a SE of this is released. You can easily sell your Goodtimes release & make your $$ back. Meanwhile thats very doubtful with the Universal disc at it's price.

Does anyone else find it to be truely pathetic on Universal's part that we are comparing one of their discs to one under the Goodtimes label?

That is true - it was originally planned as an SE (and initially announced that way) but cut back before the release date.

So, instead of doing the logical thing (postponing the release until a proper SE could be done), they dumped a bare-bones DVD on the market... while there was already an excellent budget edition out there. I'm sure the sales figures for Universal's Halloween II must be pathetic. The only reason I have it is I found a used (but mint) copy for $10.
