$37.49 (25%) vs $19.43 (35%) seems to be quite a jump just for:

COLLECTOR'S GIFT SET FEATURES
-5 exclusive character portrait
drawings, signed and sketched
by the original animators
-The Lion King Special Edition
hardcover book
...plus, of course, the 2-disc
Platinum Edition DVD

Must be the book!

It will definately be hard for me to pick this one up, especially when I compare it to the West Side Story set which was $25. I will prolly stick with the platinum. Plus it will look more in-line on my shelf with the other platinums.

Pass on the extra $$$ for Disney, but I will buy the simple 2 disk version.

Being a Disneyphile of the easily-swayed-by-packaging-gimmicks stripe, I'll be picking up the Giant Pretty Box Version. What can I say, I'm a sucker.

The "regular" version looks better than most "regular" (and even some SE) DVDs put out these days, so I'll probably just go for that. The kids'll love it but don't need the drawings/book.

Of course, this is still six months away...

The Gift set is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com - $37.49 or $33.74 after STL. I had a couple bucks in trivia points too. Got it down to $31. Not too bad I think.
