1941 DVD cover question

As much as everyone says this movie sucks, I havent seen it, and had been planning to get it for awhile. When I saw it for $9.35 at DeepDiscountDVD, I knew it was time to get it, so I ordered it. Now, the DVD Ive always seen online looked like this:

but the one I received had the 1941 logo lower on the cover, with Belushi and Akroyds head at the top. Also, the font was different than any Universal cover Ive ever seen, and the back looked completely different as well. I noticed the same things with Farhenheit 451, which I also ordered.
Anyone happen to know why the different colors, and if there are any stores that have the original "headless" cover?

Heres a copy like mine (graphic is from Ebay)

If I had received this through an Ebay auction, Id swear I had a bootleg.

to answer your second question, Best Buy does have ( or used to) carry the "headless" cover.

You think if they still had the headless cover would they allow me to exchange it?...or would they think it was a bootleg too?

I haven't seen the headless cover for a long time. In fact, I've noticed many of Universal's old catalog titles being rereleased with new(albeit terrible)cover art. Examples I've seen have been The Jackal and Dante's Peak. It looks like 1941 has also suffered the same fate.

Universal re-released a number of discs with lame new covers (including 1941, The Frighteners, and Dante's Peak). The original cover hasn't been in print for months.

Honestly, even though I hate the "big-heads", that part doesnt bother me as much as that it doesnt look ANYTHING like any other Universal release. Its an entirely different font used for "Collector's Edition" and "Widescreen", and the back cover is BLAH.
Im thinking this might definitely be a case for a request of the original cover via the DVD Covers forum .

If your disc is still sealed, you could exchange it at a store that has the original cover. (The UPC codes are identical.)

A person can always print the older cover. Many scans are available. Or hek, make your own. I've thought about doing this on a few covers.

I've always wanted to pick this one up, but the $29 price tag has kept me from it. &nbsp Looks like I get to do some searching at a few B&Ms tomorrow afternoon. &nbsp Hopefully I'll find a copy of the old disc without the obnoxious "big head" cover.

My local Wal-Mart has 1941 for $9.00 - it's the one with the heads. Still, had to buy it, however... I have to admit I like this movie!

This has recently been reduced in price to $14.99.

Most stores have knocked the price down to $10 or $15, including those few that still have the original cover. Check out FYE stores if you have any near you... they seem to be the chain with the most original covers (although you're going to have to hunt... these are getting scarce).

I just got mine from DeepDiscountDVD a week or so ago, and watched and mine looks like ... um, er, eh...I don't remember.

I know it's got the number "1941" on it...

I've bought so many freaking DVD's lately, I can barely keep track of them - they're coming in so fast.

You'll find that not too many people around here actually like 1941. Why? I don't know. I personally have always loved this movie.

this is a classic movie, I guess you have to have grown up in the 80s to appreciate it

I have to chime in. I also liked the film. The plane scene was funny as hell.
