DVD Braggarts: Post your completed Series & Sequels

I was thinking it would be interesting to post the completed series of particular movies that we have. Any movie that has 2 or more sequels or a series, will count. I'll go first.

Alien (4 movies)
Scream (3 movies)
Nightmare On Elm Street (7 movies?)
Blade (2 movies)
Lethal Weapon (4 movies)
Batman (4)
Austin Powers (3)
Men In Black (2)
Superman (4)
Evil Dead (3)
Die Hard (3)
Jurassic Park (3)
Star Trek (Original 6, plus Contact, Insurrection)
Ghostbusters (2)
American Pie (2)

You know, as I edit my list, I can't believe how many series and sequels there are out there.

Ok, now the lesser known Sequels & Series I have:

Sergio Leone's Trilogy (3):

A Fistful of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

How about Hellraiser? I'm missing III and the latest one I can't remember the name.

Hmm.... Well. I've got:

The MAD MAX movies (3)
PLANET OF THE APES (5) (Plus the extra 'making-of' disc.)
BACK TO THE FUTURE (3)

As for 'almost' complete:

I have STAR TREKs I, II, III, IV, VI, 'GENERATIONS', 'FIRST CONTACT' and 'INSURRECTION'. I'll buy NEMESIS when it comes out, but I just can't bring myself to actually buy STAR TREK V, (although Shatner's commentary on the upcoming SE might be funny).

I've got ROCKY and ROCKY II. The two go together very well, but after that, the series goes nowhere.

I have NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and DAWN OF THE DEAD but not DAY OF THE DEAD. At the time, I wasn't really impressed with DAY, but I saw it again recently and liked it more, so I may end up picking it up, (I think it's coming out in some sort of SE).

I have STAR WARS - EPISODES I & II (Hey, II was brand new for $10). I'm sure I"ll buy EPISODE III and can't wait for the first trilogy, (even though it won't be the original versions).

As for the future:

The complete LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and if they ever release the INDIANA JONES TRILOGY, I'll be there.

MGM.com has 31 listed. Could you tell me the other 9 you have that are not on the list?

http://www.mgm.com/movies_collect.do...t=DVD&start=24

I looked into it because of your post and I want to start colleting them

Hmmm here they have 49 listed...

Here's a list of the 40 Midnite Movies DVDs that are currently available:

http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.ht...-&id=robbroder

and this list includes the double feature discs coming out in April and August:

http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.ht...=0&tiq=midnite

GatorDeb, the reason your second link has 49 is because they have some listed that don't have the Midnite Movies banner (Bucket of Blood, Frogs, Pajama Party, Tales of Terror) and they also have some of the double features listed twice (i.e. "The Attic/Crawlspace", "Crawlspace/The Attic", etc.)

Hope that helps! And happy collecting!

Rob

How are they? From reading the descriptions they seem like X-Files episodes. From looking at my DVDs do you think I will like them?

I just found out about the Woody Allen Boxsets... sigh 19 movies, $183. So many DVDs, so little money The 40 DVDs for the Midnite series would cost arounf $380. Now all I need are 3 12-hour days of overtime and I can have it all

Most of them are very campy, low-budget sci-fi and horror films. Your collection is sorely lacking in camp, so you should get them for that reason alone. Seriously, I'd maybe start with a few, and see if you like them. Three that come to mind are The Abominable Dr. Phibes, Killer Klowns from Outer Space and X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes. Those are three of my favorites. I'd also recommend any of the Roger Corman/Vincent Price/Edgar Allan Poe titles, and all of the double features.

Some of the Midnite Movies are quite excellent, IMO. Some, frankly, aren't so good. But I've watched all of them, and I can honestly say that I found some sort of redeeming quality in each and every one of them. Although during a couple of them, I did have to look pretty hard.

Now that IS impressive. I share the same goal. I used to think I would eventually COMPLETE the Criterion Collection. Now it's looking like the Midnite Movies would be a much cheaper (and arguably more fun...I mean, I don't see Criterion releasing any Vincent Price flicks) pursuit.

Ok, here's my qualified list:

Alien (4 movies)

Jurassic Park (3...I didn't get the mailaway disc and box though )

Stanley Kubrick (complete rereleased boxed set, plus I also have the Criterion Spartacus, and also Killer's Kiss, The Killing and Paths of Glory)

Universal Monsters (all released to date. How long am I going to have to wait for more Invisible Man and Creature flicks???) including the Abbott Costello movies.

Fox Studio Classics (all released to date)

Evil Dead (both the Book of the Dead and Elite versions of Evil Dead, the ltd tin of EDII, and the FIRST limited edition 2-disc version of AOD, which I bought when it was originally released, and now regret that I didn't eBay for big bucks)

Avengers - Complete Emma Peel Boxed Set

Monty Python - Complete Series Set, (also the Life of Python set)

Hammer House of Horror set

The Prisoner set (I must admit, I couldn't pass up the deal DDD was running on these A&E sets)

Disney Treasures (all released to date)

Romero's Zombie trilogy (The original Elite version of NOTLD, and first Anchor Bay releases of Dawn and Day)

Neon Genesis Evangelion (What pisses me off is that I bought them as they came out, just like I'd done with the VHS tapes, and now I don't get the cool box that the perfect collection came in )

Terminator (2 flicks...likely I won't be getting the 3rd, if the trailer is any indicator of its quality)

Sleepaway Camp Box

Series I won't be completing:

Hellraiser (have them all except III)

Halloween (I refuse to own Resurrection or Curse of Michael Myers, as they suck beyond belief)

Exorcist (Have both versions of the first and also have the 3rd, but I can't justify buying the second one, as I'd never watch it again. crap!)

I can't figure this either:
Clerk
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Jay & Silent Bob
Clerks Animated
Then you could include A Better Place, Vulgard, Drawing Flies and an Evening with Kevin Smith. I'm not sure what else would count.

Well, he said seven plus Drawing Flies and An Evening with Kevin Smith, so those two are out. What are A Better Place and Vulgard? They're not on the View Askew site, not that I co uld see.

Sorry, that should have been Vulgar, which stars Clerk's Brian O' Halloran as a clown who... has an unpleasant experience. A Better Place is directed by View Askew historian Vincent Pereira. Both are View Askew films, I'm not sure why they aren't on the site.

Here's a rundown of every "View Askew Production". The main five are Kevin Smith's five films:

Clerks
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

In 1995, Kevin Smith was given a development deal by Miramax. He produced four movies, all of which were written and directed by his friends. Those movies are:

A Better Place (written/directed by Vincent Pereira)
Drawing Flies (written/directed by Malcolm Ingram & Matt Gissing)
Vulgar (written/directed by Bryan Johnson)
Big Helium Dog (written/directed by Brian Lynch, not available on DVD)

View Askew Productions has only made one television venture, which is:

Clerks (The Cartoon).

Kevin Smith has appeared in and/or made many contributions to many other DVD's, although they're not technically View Askew Productions. Off the top of my head, other DVD's with Kevin Smith content are:

An Evening with Kevin Smith

Stan Lee's Mutants, Marvels and Monsters (Kevin Smith
interviews Stan Lee)

Starwoids (Kevin Smith is interviewed)

Project Greenlight (contest winner meets Kevin Smith)

Tail Lights Fade (Kevin Smith credited as executive advisor)

Good Will Hunting (Kevin Smith credited as executive producer)

Coyote Ugly (Kevin Smith wrote early draft, some content still in the movie)

Scream 3 (Jay and Silent Bob make an appearance)

Comic Book Confidential (Kevin Smith provides new intro)

Spider-Man (Kevin Smith is interviewed in comic book featurette)

Orgazmo SE (Kevin Smith provides commentary for a single scene as part of "celebrity commentary", DVD not yet released).

While it's not a DVD, fans of Kevin Smith audio commentaries might also want to check out Graphitti Design's "Daredevil Visionaries" limited edition hardcover. It includes a CD-ROM that's essentially an approximation of the DVD experience. It contains early sketches and pencils (pre-tracing) and a 2-hour audio commentary with Kevin Smith, Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti, and it's just as entertaining as Kevin's other commentary tracks.
