Dinosaur DVD - Question about problem discs
I recently got the 2-Disc version of the Dinosaur DVD as a gift. I remember reading several problems with this DVD. Is there any way I can tell if the version that I received is free of defects? I have not opened the DVD yet (as it would be probably easier to return the DVD if it was unopened and in the original shrinkwrap).
Is there any way I can look at the DVD case and figure out if this is a good DVD (free of defects)? I did a search on the topic and could not find an answer for my question. I apologize if this is a duplicate post.
Thanks

Not sure if this is going to help you or not - I started coming here a while after Dinosaur came out and I haven't heard about anyone else's problems.
When I bought Dinosaur the week it was released, we only had 1 player, and the movie skipped continuously throughout. I returned it and got another one, and it did the same thing, skipping in the exact same places. At that point I decided to try it in a different player, and it played fine. Since then, I've found that it plays fine in my PS2 and my DVD-ROM.
So I have no idea how to tell the difference from the outside, but it's possible that, if that's the only problem people were having, it could be player related. Incidentally, the player it didn't work in is a pretty cheap RCA model (not sure of the exact model number).

The Dinosaur 2-disc DVD had some player compatibility issue when it first came out. It skipped on some players or took forever to load in some players. It played fine in other players though. Disney corrected the problem by repressing the 2-disc edition and offered replacement when you call them up. AFAIK, there is no visual difference to tell which one you got from the packaging.

I don't know if it's the disc's compatibility problem, or the disc's stratch, but I rented 1 disc Dinosaur last year and I found that every time the movie goes to another chapter, it freezes, and I have to press Next Chapter on my player (I watched it on my computer and mainly uses Power DVD back then) to resume the movie. But then I got fed up and switched to Cinemaster, and the discs worked out just fine.
