GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM SERIOUS

jonathan.e 04-02-01 02:29 AM

The movie is a work of genius by Hal Ashby - Last Detail, Shampoo and Harold & Maude. Some of the best movies of the 70s; Some of the best movies, period.

I haven't ever seen it but I have it preordered and am excited. I think Ebert chose this as one of his "Great Movies" distinctions.

garmonbozia 04-02-01 06:17 AM

yep, he did. here's his review in case anyone else is interested:

I know

It's one of my favorite movies.
I was looking for a review of the disc.
Video/audio quality, etc.

El Kabong 04-02-01 02:27 PM

I was thinking about getting it, but saw it's full-screen only. My 65" HDTV says "no thank you". I love Peter Sellers though.

evenswr 04-02-01 02:37 PM

Oh my God

You're right, it's fullscreen!

And in case anyone's wondering, the origianl was 1.85:1. At least, according to the Internet Movie Database:
http://us.imdb.com/Technical?Being+There+(1979)

Floortex 04-03-01 01:38 PM

1.85 anamorphic widescreed according to the big picture!!!!

i am damn near sure this puppy's widescreen

evenswr 04-03-01 03:10 PM

Amazon says it's full screen:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...-info/dvdtalk/

Buy.com says widescreen:

http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=40149307

Hmmmm...

empire state 04-03-01 03:17 PM

amazon still lists 6th day as a special edition. i've been hearing all along that this is widescreen and most sites still have it listed widescreen. i am betting on widescreen, and for those of you who want to be stubborn, good luck not owning it

El Kabong 04-03-01 05:26 PM

I don't think they're going to sell out if we wait to see if it's anamorphic widescreen or not. Hasn't anyone gotten it yet, or seen a review?

Pete A 04-03-01 06:54 PM

I haven't "watched" it, but I did toss it in my player to check it out, and it IS 1.85 anamorphic widescreen.
