YES, ONE OF MY TOP 10 MOVIES OF ALL TIME. NEED I SAY IT AGAIN, GRAINY TRANSFER AS ARE ALL OF CRITERION'S DVDS BUT A GREAT DISC BESIDES THAT. ONE THAT I WOULD KEEP ABOVE ALL ELSE IF I HAD TO SELL OFF MOST OF MY COLLECTION
THERE IS ABOUT A MINUTE OF EXTRA, MORE GRAPHIC FOOTAGE

it's very good, w/ a good commentary. but i hear an SE is coming out in the next year. If the new one seems better, ill probably sell off the CC.

FYI, I heard that the new one isn't going to be the unrated edition, but it will instead be the rated R cut of the film.

I think MGM said in a chat at The Digital Bits that an unrated version will be released later. I could be wrong but I'm probably right. Hell, I'm keeping my CC version just because it's CC

The Criterion disc is a keeper. The video transfer is excellent and the audio has never sounded better. The disc has a healthy number of extras, too.
The "unrated" footage amounts only to about four or five seconds and merely expands the violence in one scene. It's really a tiny change and you'll only notice it if you know what to look for, or if you're a real fan of the flick and have seen the rated version more than twice, really.
Bottom line: If you're a Criterion nut or a real fan of the movie, and you can find the disc without starining your budget, go for it. Otherwise, just stick to the cheaper disc.

Definitely worth it if you like the movie! Paul Verhoeven's audio commentary makes it worth the price - he provides a lot of background as to why he made the film, and what was in the back of his mind through the process.

Loved the movie from the first time I saw it. I like the DVD's features, especially the commentary. If you love the movie, get the Criterion (still available at retail, and on eBay for less).
I'm looking forward to the new SE too, but as I said before, I love the movie.

The Robocop CC edition is worth in my estimate 29.99
The film it self is wonderful to revisit if a little grim.
I find the transfer very cinematic including the dolby 2 channel soundtrack taken directly from the 35mm master print. Handled with care and resepect this disc is one that offers enough extras to warrant the extra dough.
