How was the movie Frantic by Roman Palanski? I saw it years ago and just remembered it, I figured I might go see it again some how,

so how is the DVD?

How is the movie? Haven't seen it in years!

depends on if you're a polanski fan. i'm a fan of only one of his movies (death & the maiden), but i still think he's a good director. this one's decently directed, decently acted, but a very boring and fairly regular script. pretty much your regular kidnapping fare by a good director. as for the dvd, i haven't seen it, but my friend (who's a polanski fan), says it sucks. i believe it's full screen. i do believe there is a better version R2 somewhere in europe that i found, but i'm not totally positive

I think the movie is probably worth at least a rental; it was all right, but I doubt I'd buy it. (I haven't seen the DVD, so I can't comment on the features.)

The movie starts out with a lot of potential, and Polanski definitely establishes a very creepy mood and a lot of interesting and suspicious plot points early in the film. I really like how just before the wife disappears, we can't hear what she's saying because of the noise from Harrison Ford's shower.

Maybe the film was too good too soon, because it quickly felt like a letdown. The film spiralled into a standard kidnapping flick (as empire state already mentioned) and I found myself not really caring about the developing plot twists. Great directing and great acting, though.

Even though the DVD is bare bones and full frame. It is still a damn good movie. Its only about $10-$15 bucks at the stores. I wish they would re-release it.

Frantic is one of my favorite films, but from what I've heard about the DVD, I'm not going to bother replacing my VHS copy unless it gets rereleased in widescreen or a special edition.

Good movie; It is widescreen in R2. I echo the comments above re the R1 version - it’s a POS - do not buy.

Frantic Reply !

I have just bought FRANTIC and deem it to be a really
good movie, especially with the intensity that Ford
injects in to it !. The Ratio is a 16:9 transfer =
1.85.1 not full screen as someone said. There are no
extras and only One No two Faults.
When I go to French Language it still plays in English,
The other Language Italian plays fine but not French.

The only other fault is that, I have it in one of those
horrible (shall not name it ) cases ugh !

Any one else with the Language Prob let me know please.

Cheers

You are based in Australia, so you obviously don't have the R1 version that was referred to. The R1 IS full-frame and sucks. Terrible transfer.
