Here is the collectors edition:

Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)
Color, Closed-captioned, Fullscreen format, Dolby Stereo Surround Sound
Collector's Edition
"Building a Better Mummy" - an original 40-minute documentary featuring writer/director Stepen Sommers, visual effects supervisor John Berton, and the crew of "Industrial Light & Magic" as well as an in-depth look into the creative and technical processes behind the special effects
Musical score by Jerry Goldsmith on alternate audio track
Commentary by writer/director Stephen Sommers and editor Bob Ducsay
"Egyptology 101" - facts about ancient Egypt and Egyptian mythology
Theatrical trailer
Production notes
Deleted scenes

Ultimate Edition:

Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)
Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen and Full-screen formats, DTS 5.1, Dolby 5.1 Stereo Surround Sound
Over 6 Extraordinary Hours of Excitement!
Feature commentary with director Stephen Sommers and editor Bob Ducsay
A Special, First-Look at the filming of The Mummy Returns
Live Webcast from the Theatrical World Premiere
Highlights on the Making of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns
Original Script with Links to the Film
A Look at the Special Effects, Deleted Scenes, Egyptian Mythology
Mummy PC Video game demo and trailer

I don't know, they both have different features, so what's the point of the Ultimate Edition? And what's with the 6 extroardinary hours of entertainment? Is it a 360 minute long directors cut?

I don't know but this Ultimate Edition seems very un-necessary

Welcome to the wonderful world of marketing... Don't forget they've included two free passes for the Mummy Returns (or whatever it is coming out this summer) for the initial round of people who buy the Ultimate Edition. Personally I think it is excessive, but what the hell I'm going to "upgrade"

BTW in addition to what you list, I believe there are 2 or 3 more commentaries as well. Not to mention the first one was P&S or WS on different disks/packages entirely, this will have both in the same one (although I can't say I'm too excited about that "feature" ).

PS DVDfile has a review up now http://www.dvdfile.com/software/revi...teedition.html

I've been happy with the CE version I got for Christmas last year, and I don't think I'm going to need to know anything else about the movie, so I won't be upgrading.

The only reason I'm planning to rebuy it is for the DTS soundtrack.

I'll be purchasing this one if only for the DTS soundtrack alone. I just hope Universal does it right, not like The Rock: Criterion Collection where the rear channels of the DTS soundtrack seem to be muffled a bit.....but that's another story.

.....and yes, I've got the CE version, but I've got plans for that one.

I've put off getting this one... I might pick it up for the DTS soundtrack. The rest of the new features blow. What a waste of time.

This will make a great CH enrollment... and I can wait.

Very true. The regular edition has great video and sound and alot of extra features. For this average film, it's more than enough.

I have the older copy (P&S version actually) but I'm not upgrading now. I'll wait until all three mummies are out and then get the box set I'm sure they'll do. Hopefully, they'll have the DTS versions in a box set.

They're already filming Scorpion King now so it should be out by next summer.

My 2 cents.

Scorpian King is the Mummy 2?

Last I heard it's planned for a May release.

No, i believe Scorpion King is actually a prequel to the first Mummy.

That's how I knew too. I met a production handle at my local Camping World up in Valencia, CA. He told me they were filming up in a canyon near there.
