It is 13.99 at Amazon. Is it worth it?

Is it worth it? In my opinion, no. The DVD offers excellent picture and sound, but it skimps on extras (just a few deleted scenes). Most importantly, however, the movie itself just isn't very good. It's not a total dud, but I didn't think it was too entertaining or compelling.

BTW, the price may sound cheap, but keep in mind that Red Planet LISTS for only $20, so you'll be able to find it for about that same price locally.

I can't speak for the DVD, but the film itself was the most dull, stupid piece of garbage I've seen theatrically in quite some time. It's not even worth going into more detail.

Oh, yeah, I will say this--if you are a SFX junkie there are a few nice ones. However, that would never justify a purchase from me, personally.

Well, I was bored silly watching RED PLANET in the theatre, but enjoyed MISSION TO MARS even though it's not a great film. At least it kept me awake..

I liked Red Planet a little bit, while I didn't like much of anything about Mission to Mars. It's cheap enough that I think it's worth a buy if you like slow moving stereotypical science fiction movies.

Its a great looking and sounding disc. I rented it after seeing the not so favorable reviews instead of buying it. The film wasn't that terrible..it wasn't that good either.

The highlight of the film was hearing the flying AMEE probe. Excellant surround effect.

I was pleasantly surprised by the film....I read lots of negative reviews but I rented it anyway. The movie was not great but I enjoyed it. The movie is not for everyone, you really need to like science fiction and space stuff to enjoy the film. The special effects and computer graphic images were very good in this film. AMEE is really cool looking. In my opinion, I think the film is definitely worth a rental , then you can decide if it is worth a purchase. In comparison to Mission to Mars --- Red Planet is much, much more entertaining.

It's a good time. I liked seeing Terrance Stamp, but wished he'd had a meatier role. Loved the fleixible video maps -- and the robotic killer was amusing. Unplug, enjoy.
