I was thinking about picking this up from Columbia House as one of my fulfillment selections.

It's the US version, so I know that it is cut and dubbed and has a different soundtrack. How is the movie itself though? Is it one of Jackie's best, or should I pass on it?

If you like JC you'll enjoy it, I know it's one of my favorites. Also you don't miss much from the uncut version, from what I recall there are only 2 or 3 scenes missing and they really don't have much to do w/ the main story line. However, if you ever get a chance it's worth picking up Police Story 3 just to have it too

Personally, I find a lot of Jackie's films to be pretty lame movies with a few fantastic action sequences. This one, however, really worked well as a complete action movie for me. The pacing and acting was good, the story was interesting, and the action scenes just got better and better right to the end. Of course, Michelle Yeoh brings a lot to the table, both in acting and action. This is probably my favorite of Jackie's modern-day movies.

Yeah, this is one of my faves. I actually enjoy the US version more as it has a strong DD5.1 surround sound track while the original was uninspired and mono. There's only one small cut that I noticed and it works in the movie's favour. It's a dub, so it's not perfect, but at least Jackie and Michelle Yeoh do their own English voices. Go for it.

What can you say? Its one of Jackies best. Yeah, the dub is bad, but the action is so frequent and great, that the dubbing doesnt get too distracting, plus the plotline actually holds up under the bad dubbing much better than most Jackie films. This is one of the few (maybe the only) Jackie film that i dont really mind the deleted version, because the scenes they cut didnt really add much to the film anyway.

What Ky-Fi is frightenly close to the truth. After putting countless numbers of my friends through Supercop, I definately thinks it's one of those - get it and see what you think.

I love it though.

I thought this movie was good. Some great action sequences with both Jackie and Michelle and humor in the Jackie Chan fashion.

I picked this movie as my fulfillment selection too.

Supercop is a really good film and one of the best Police Story's in the bunch. The one thing that bugs me about having the film processed by Disney/Miramax is the way they cut out the original soundtrack and delete scene after scene of the original movie. I bought the Criterion Laserdisc Version of "Supercop" in it's original soundtrack and optional deleted scenes with all types of trailers and other bonuses included. It is a shame that this film like all other foreign films have to be diced up and served without any regards to the original manner in which the producers, directors and others who collaberated meant the film to be viewed. Leave it up to money hungry churning mega companies to screw it for the purist movie lovers. I just hope Criterion keeps doing what they're doing in maintaining the true integrity of foreign films.
