Don't waste your money on even a rental. Dinosaur is a horrible movie.
Don't buy it just for the animation. Bad story, even for kids.

I thought the animation was impressive, but I was not that thrilled with the story. On the other hand, I do have two kids (3 and 7) and they both liked it, so I will be getting it

As with everyone else, I agree, the story definitely lacked. It started out great with the meteors and such but the basic plot is this heard of dino's travelling to their "mating grounds" and what they encounter along the way-which isn't much.

On the other hand, if you are into computer graphics, animation, this is incredible! I just find it amazing at what studios are cranking out in the way of this. I was impressed. And the picture was crystal clear!
I would pick it up just for those 2 reasons alone...p.s. my nephew really got a kick out of it although there are some parts that may be a bit scary for the younger crowd..under 5.

Try this review of the movie itself:

Try this review of the dvds recently released:

I have the CE version but have not viewed it yet. I have read posts from this forum complaining about numerous problems with the disc in their dvd player. I have a Sony dvd player and the discs are performing fine with the Sony dvd players from what I have read. I will post again later after I get a chance to view the dvd myself on my player. I liked the movie when I saw it at the theater because of the "photorealistic" animation, especially the first few scenes. The most interesting thing about the movie is the subject matter itself because dinosaurs and how they perished is so controversial and very interesting to me personally. I really did like the "photorealisitc" animation even more than the critically acclaimed animation of "Princess Mononoke". Both styles are very different and very good. I cannot wait for the next big "photorealistic" animated movie!

I picked the CE up at the Wiz ($19.99 price match with the ad from CC).

I liked it. The animation and picture are incredible. The story was ok (similar to the Land Before Time). My 2 kids loved it.

I got it and love it. IMO the annimation is truely amazing. The story is nothing but it is entertaining enough. The picture it's self is awesome.
I originaly got it for my 3-1/2 year old but after viewing by myself, I have decided it is to violent for her to watch so I will save it for several years for her.

But I might watch it again my self.

I watched the CE version today in my Sony C600D. There were three pauses in the playback. I guess those are all layer changes? I don't know. I have not had that noticeable of a pause before. The movie would actually freeze-up and then replay after a second or two. At least it picked up where it left off instead of skipping scenes or part of a scene.
