I really enjoyed that movie, but I have never been a real fan of Japanamation. What other movies would I like? I have seen a couple at my local store and was wondering about them.

Since you really liked Mononoke, you might want to try some other Studio Ghibli movies.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Winds
Whisper of the Heart
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
you can find more info on this page

I've just been getting into anime myself. Once you get into a series it is great because there is so many episodes to watch and enjoy. Some series I enjoy or have heard that are good are:
Blue Submarine #6
Bubblegum Crisis
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai X
I also think Akira is coming to DVD this year. Very excellent anime movie.

Why not? What exactly did you like about Mononoke, that'd help in suggesting some further titles

The animation was great, but that is pretty common in Japanamation. I think what bothers me is the idea of Dragonball Z and Digimon. The sorry dubbing of English over a Japanamation movie. I liked the fact that they got american actors to do the voices. I have to admit, I have seen very little of the Japanamation.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Castle of Cagliostro. It's by Hayao Miyazaki, the creator/director behind Princess Mononoke. Animation-wise, it's not quite as good as Mononoke simply because it's older (but it's looks very nice nonetheless), but the story and situation is much more fun than Mononoke. It's an adventure caper set in picturesque Europe-flavoured locales.
gusamo - the thing about Mononoke is that it's a one of a kind movie by a one of a kind director. It's like saying you're new to American films and want recommendations for films similar to Titanic by James Cameron. The best I can do is recommend other movies by the director. Unfortunately, in this case the director Hayao Miyazaki doesn't have many films out on DVD here. Only Mononoke and Cagliostro actually.

Grave of the Fireflies is great, but just be aware it's VERY depressing!!
