I need anime suggestions. I would like alot of action(blood and gore is fine), but would like to stay away of heavy nudity and sex. There are plenty of them at the video store, but no DVDs. I rented princess Mononoke and really liked it. any suggestions would be great, thanks.

There are a couple of links for this topic already which will have way more than I can suggest but, just from personal viewing here are my choices:
Ninja Scroll-excellent martial arts based anime
Ghost in the Shell-can be a little cryptic at times but the visuals are pretty incredible
Battle Angel-Cyborg martial Arts very good!
Cyber City Odeo-criminals with sentances in excess of hundreds of years are turned into crimefighters/policemen. Great storyline (actually it's broken up into 3 seperate stories composed of the same main characters)
great action and great visuals.
Sin The Movie-Though not technically "anime" it's a tremendously good effort by an American team of animators based on a very popular video game. Well done, animation is good-not great but very easy on the eyes!
Patlabor 1-mecha themed film in that machines called "labors" are constructed to do the work of man however, something goes wrong and the labors begin wreaking havoc all over Japan, Nice storyline, anime is a little dated but still great to look at!
The wings of Honneamise-Anime favorite, fledgling space exploration on a planet very similar to Earth but not Earth. Storyline can drag during the middle of the film and the anime is a little dated as well but, it's still a beautiful film to watch and experience.
Macross Plus-Mecha themed spinoff of Robotech/Macross.currently two discs avaialble. Beautifully rendered and the storylines are well executed
Fist of the NorthStar-Classic Anime great storyline but extremely dated in animation.action oriented
Queen Emeraldas-created by those who created Starblazers it carries on in the tradition of Starblazers. Same great animation and great storylines-action oriented

-Great action, not what i expected, but well worth the whackiness and fun. great stuff
Neon genesis Evangelion
-wow. one of the best anime series that i have seen the dvd's are coming out slow, but if you get the tapes or the vcd's they are great. a total of 13 tapes, and 2 movies. each tape has 2 episodes 30 minutes each.
the series deals with subject of Man vs. God. very literally. giant Mech's piloted by childern, not anything of the hentai stuff, great thought provoking films.

The Castle of Cagliostro is the perfect choice for you... That should be the next anime DVD you are getting...
If you like that, you can try Record of Lodoss War, Tenchi OVA, Ranma OVA, Battle Athlete Victory, Cowboy Bebop, and Fushigi Yuugi.

Wow, all the cool ones have been suggested already except one. I know some may disregard it because it is on cartoon network, but I feel you should try Dragon Ball Z. There are a lot of episodes leading up to battles, but when they get there, the fight sequences are totally cool.

The animated Fist of the Northstar is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Its a bloody mess - with a plot that's nothing more than a bunch of silly fights that all end with the loser's body graphically exploding. Avoid at all costs (you have been warning)

One of my fav. movies is Armitage III, its out on dvd and pretty cheap (usually under $14). I'd definitely recommend the Rurouni Kenshin OVA's as Kundun suggested. They are very well animated with good action and a good story. However, the Kenshin series, IMO, isn't quite up to par. If you're into comedy, Golden Boy and Ping Pong Club are good, GB especially...but GB has a good bit of fan-service, but no real nudity if i remember correctly. GB & PPC aren't on dvd yet.
Some Good Series:
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bebop
Saber Marionette J (i don't think its out yet on dvd)

Not to mention they really should teach the artist about size porportion between characters and KEEP TO THAT SIZE!!! one scene a character is the same size, next, the guy is about the size of the others leg.
