Review Wanted: "M" (Criterion)

The only draw back to this disc is a lack of extras. Outside of that, it is great. The movie is quite interesting and still holds relavence. the main plot points in "M" can be seen in the newspapers on almost a daily basis. the first 5 mins leave a bit to be desired and if I recall correctly there is something a bit off at the end of the movie.
However, you are not going to find a better print of this film and I would highly recommend it.

From: The City of Roses.
Okay, now I'm curious. I just ordered M (it should be getting here tomorrow) and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a big Fritz Lang fan but have never seen M. Not sure why.
So, the question is: What's askew with the first five minutes? A problem with the transfer or a weakness in the film's plot itself?
Just wondering.

Yeah, I know, like that really exciting theatrical trailer that teased German audiences back in 1931, but hey, not everything survives in the movies!

It's the transfer. I am reasonably certain that it is from a different source than the rest of the film. It is really not very good, but then the rest of the transfer of the film is excellent.<HR>
It's bearly, if anything, noticeable.
