What exactly is the story here....is the disc that is available now in the US the one I've been seeing on TV for so many years here and there?

I never realized that was an overdubbed movie...........until I read it was, however. That sure SOUNDS like a young Mel Gibson to me.............no???

Is the transfer ok? I want to pick this up, as its a fantastic movie.............

same here. I've been wanting to get Mad Max, Road Warrior, and MM: Beyond Thunderdome for a while, but I was hoping for a rerelease with the original sound tracks...

Only Mad Max is dubbed, Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome have their original tracks.

I don't have Beyond Thunderdome, but Road Warrior rocks!!! The picture is anamorphic and looks beautiful (don't even ask about pan & scan side.) I haven't heard much about any new release of these movies, so I would say go get em', especially Road Warrior.

They re-released at least one of them in the theatres this year. Its possible they will do a new video release of this film. I believe it was Mad Max that was re-released, but I'm not positive.

Yes, Mad Max was in the cinema around here a few months ago with the restored original audio and I believe a new transfer. Unfortunately, I missed it, but I do have some hope now they'll be a new DVD release in future.

Wish they'd do a boxed set.

I would love to see this film without the terrible dubbing.

I believe the region 2 or 4 had the original soundtrack. If you have an apex.... might be worth a look if you are a fan.

no region 2 DVD of Mad Max here in Europe!
Donīt ask me why....
and according to DVDplanet, one of the three Australian DVD online retailers, there isnīt an Australian release either, which is very weird though its their most successfull movie ever!!

Hold-out just a little longer on Mad Max. MGM is planning on releasing a Mad Max: SE some time next year, which will include the Aussie dialogue track!

Don't get your hopes up for any kind of box set, though, as different studios own different parts of the trilogy. I believe WB owns 2 & 3.
