I finally got around to watching CO today. I have to say people have done a lot of complaining. Fine, it's not the best transfer that could have been done, but still I think it was well done. I've seen much worse.

As for the sound, just because it's mono, doesn't mean it's bad. I thought this film had a warm natural kind of sound, sure I could tell it wasn't the latest HI-FI release, but nonethless it was totally acceptable.

I think the negativity toward (at least this disc) the Kubrick collection is too harsh. I'm happy that I bought this flick.

i watched my copy last night & i agree with the above comments that people seemed to be too harsh on the transfer of this disc.

i was expecting something horrible but was very pleased with the transfer. there was minor dirt & grain but not a lot. sound is one channel mono but i let mine 2 channel it & it sounded fine. granted, i would love a 5.1 mix on this disc since music is so prevalent for the storyline.

the story itself...man i love this movie. very dark humor & i have always liked that it seemed to be in a completely foreign language but you can still understand what everyone is saying even though you don't speak it (like Chewbacca to Han Solo). good bit of T&A & some violence as wel. not for the kiddies.

the book is a favorite of mine as well & i think that this is on of the few movies that is almost as good if not better than the book. (i probably feel this way b/c i discovered the book after i saw the movie)

no damn extras to speak of whatsoever. there is the trailer which is quite interesting & bizarre. some list of awards it won or was nominated for & that was it. oh yeah, it had a picture on the disc... there was a mention of production notes on the back but they are nowhere on the disc.

it is widescreen which is surprising since this is a Kubrick film on dvd. but the widescreen appears to be 1.66:1 which is almost full screen anyway.

if you like this movie, dont hesitate to pick of this disc. it is much better than my old worn VHS copy & i really doubt there will be a special edition in the future. enjoy...
