I can remember ridiculously little about this movie, but I saw it about 10+ years ago, so I'm sure it's from the 80's. Dunno who stars or even the basics of the plot...

Something comes through the air in this town and kills off most everyone (I think it starts with a dog - don't they always?). At the end the sole survivors are this group of 5-6 kids and they are walking down the street and this red sports car drives up with a girl in it and one of the kids jumps in and rides away....

Hmm...I have no clue what the title is, I know that that's little info, but I thought it might ring a bell with someone...any clue?

Sounds like "Night of the Comet" to me. A true 80's cable classic.

You're right, you do remember ridiculously little about the movie

Schmilsson is right, you are almost certainly thinking about Night of the Comet.

Night of the Comet is great!

One of the stars of the film now plays Chakotay in Star Trek: Voyager (Robert Beltran). He also appeared in "Eating Raoul" with the woman who played one of the scientists.

This is a Fox film and I haven't heard anything about a DVD release. This seems like a perfect movie for Anchor Bay to license. Definitely a cult favorite!

Man, I loved Night of the Comet when I saw it back in the 80's. Of course the thought of not having to deal with traffic is pretty appealing even today.

Wow...I bow to your superior knowledge! I figured I'd get a couple of flames at best! Thank you all so much for helping me with that title...if you've ever had the name of a movie on the tip of your tongue but could not quite remember it then know how I feel!
Thanks again! You all are amazing!

Yeah, hey! I noticed that to! Luckily my boyfriend taped it for me...I was bummed out that it was not available on tape or DVD so I could see it, but such coincidences!

By the way, boyfriend says it sucks...here's hoping you guys are right!
