TITLE: Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
GENRE: Family/Comedy
DIRECTOR: Tim Burton
PRICE: $21.99
FEATURES: Commentary with Paul Reubens and Tim Burton; Music-only track featuring commentary by Danny Elfman; Theatrical Trailer; Remastered soundtrack.

This is a must-have DVD for all Burton fans and those with small children. The film itself is timeless; very possibly the best children's film of the 1980's, as it's intricate and funny enough to interest parents as well.

The transfer is pristine, but the real grab here is the wonderful Danny Elfman score (his first and possibly still his best), which is isolated on a separate track with the composer's insightful commentary. Another commentary track features Director Tim Burton and Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee himself), who offer often hilarious insisghts into the production of this low-budget masterpiece.

For those who really know their Pee-Wee (I am included in this number), you'll see that the blooper involving the bicycle chain (where you can see it coming out from the bottom of the compartment) has been removed. Burton dutifully comments on it, however, mentioning that French audiences thought it was intentional and was proof of his brilliance.

So go pick this up today! You won't be sorry!

I've gotta agree. This is a great DVD. The commentary is priceless. Why isn't Burton doing more commentaries? Sleepy Hollow and the upcoming Batman aren't enough!!! I wished they inclded another commentary with Reubens in the Pee-wee role. However, the isolated music track with Danny Elfman is a great addition. If you're used to seeing this movie on t.v. and VHS you'll be blown away.

Ordered it, but have yet to receive it. Hopefully today.

I haven't been this excited about a DVD since the Nightmare box set.

I hope that the rumors concerning a rated-R feature on Pee-Wee's life are true!

Also pre-ordered it, didn't come today
Personally, I think this movie is a classic. I've watched this in a room of 20+ people, ages 4 to 85, and everyone loved it. Can't wait to check out the transfer and extras!

Received mine today.

Where is the MTV premiere party footage that was supposed to be included?

Got mine today....a few days later than I usually get my dvds. No matter, I'm saving it to watch with my grandkids next week.

The only downer (for me) is the snapper case. I've stopped buying Warner, Image and others who use the snapper. Trouble is, like in life, we always make exceptions. I remember enjoying this film more the second and later viewings. Can hard wait to check this old favorite out.

i watched my copy today. pretty good transfer. it seemed a little dark in some places but was overall very clean.

sound was crisp with the new 5.1DD track. not much use on the surrounds but with a movie like this, you dont expect a whole lot.

the extras are pretty nice. a few deleted scenes (obvious why they were left out) & some nice commentaries (only listened to parts of these & not the whole things yet). nice storyboards & production section as well.

if you like this movie, definitely buy this disc. you will not be disappointed!

What about the live Chicago show footage that Reel and a couple of others touted?
