Currently recording Dances with wolves commentary to my MD to enjoy on long car trips. Quite interesting because most of it is anecdotal and based on reminiscences of the filming more than a decade ago.
Also enjoyed Fishing with John commentaries and that has become my next MD project.
I really enjoy laid back chats where everyone kicks back and shoots the sh*t , so Mallrats floats the boat for me. Any other good ones out there folks?

The two best commentaries that I've listened to on DVD are Sweet Hereafter and Gods and Monsters, featuring Atom Egoyand and Russel Banks, and Bill Condon, Ian McKellan, and Clive Barker, respectively. Inspired filmmakers, writers, and actors who sound truly excited to be discussing their films. These tracks have insight and intelligence.
The lamest ones I've heard so far are on Night of the Living Dead (collector's edition)and X-Files: Fight the Future. On NoTLD there are so many people and they are so incoherent that you wonder how such an intelligent film came out of these people. Their insight is limited to "Hey, wasn't that tie yellow?" As for X-Files it's basically the dorky Chris Carter and Rob Bowman saying stuff like "So now Mulder is walking down the street..." Love these discs, but not their commentaries.
Commentary that I'd love to make the transition from LD to DVD: Raging Bull - Criterion. Inspirational. Made me want to be a filmmaker.
