Isn't the widescreen version so much better? Got my copy earlier today, amazed by the transfer.

Did it make the lapdance and swimming pool scenes better?

Those are the only 2 scenes I've watched and yes, they looked so much better.

I ordered this DVD and has yet to view it.

Based on your reviews, I'll just watch the lapdance and swimming pool scenes!

Cinemaphile, you'll love the "acting" from these 2 scenes. They need to make a special category Oscar for acting of this caliber.

Actually, Showgirls did win many awards. It swept all the major Raspberries, the opposite of the Oscar.

I can't wait for my copy to arrive to watch one of the funniest exchanges in the film.

Kyle M: When you were a hooker, how much did you charge?
Elizabeth: About $50
Kyle: Well, darling, you underestimate your self, because you're one HELL of a lay.
Elizabeth SPITS at Kyle.
Kyle (wiping spit from face): I MEANT that as a COMPLIMENT!!!!!

LOL, funniest scene ever that wasn't meant to be funny.

If you guys loved Showgirls then you'll love

THE PLAYERS CLUB

It's about a black club in LA and the story line is like showgirls but with balls. Yes, there's some lesbianism...The main "badgirl" is a Lesbian.

Especially if you like thick women of color and ethnic humor.

I don't know what you're talking about, but the storyline is nothing like Showgirls.

Comparing Joe Eszterhas and Ice Cube, that's funny.

What this disc really needs is a director's commentary so we could answer the ageold question, "What the hell were you thinking???"
My favorite line was uttered by Robert Davi. "It must be weird not having guys come on ya."

NOFX you don't what your talking about:

It's about a girl trying to make her way through a sleazy world of adult entertainment(in this case a strip club)

It's not THE SAME STORY but the parallels are there... look it up on REEL.com. I think they have PLAYERS CLUB in SHOWGIRLS' "If you like this movie..." category.

Have you seen Players club?

One disadvantage on the letterboxed version on both laserdisc and DVD. Film was obviously matted so you are losing some important lower frontal nuditys of Elizabeth Berkley and Rena Rieffel when they are dancing. The video tape version has it,and you can actually see (if you zoom it in) Berkley's...uh...how do I say this without getting censored? Well lets say she spreads her leg WIDE open, uh, you know. It is MATTED OUT ON THE DVD!!!!!! DARN!

Yes, I have. A long time ago, and I didnt didn't see any similarity between the two, besides your "parellels."

As for the "If you like this movie" category at Reel, half the time its nonsense. Half those on their you won't like, that they have listed if you liked one certain movie.
