Review - Disney's Jungle Book

Although I had made a vow not to replace any Disney videotapes with DVD because of the crappy way Disney and BVHV have handled it, I made the exception with Jungle Book because it was always one of my family's favorites and the tape was plum worn out. The best way to sum it up was I got screwed.
Story - this is a delightful animated story with great songs like "Bare Necessities" So the story is well worth owning as it has infinite replay value.
Video - Terrible. The folks at Buena Vista did nothing but churn this thing out and count their money. There were numerous problems with shading and artifacts. A few scenes were very clean and DVD like, most were very poor. I can only compare it to the other two Disney titles I own, 101 Dalmations and Little Mermaid. Not even close to those two.
Audio - No 5.1 sound. Uh HELLOOO. Why this disc is saddled with a sub-par 2.0 track is beyond me. Little Mermaid was delightful with 5.1 sound and this disc deserves it.
Price/Value - What really ends up being price gouging, this disc is not worth the $20 or so it costs online. Even if you have one of the dwindling coupons handy, send Disney a message and bypass this disc.

Boy, I remember the first time I got shot out of a cannon.

Yea, even though I got the 'box set' for a great price, I felt that these were nothing more, (and quite a few times LESS) than their laserdisc counterparts.
Many of my old Disney LDs have lots of extras on them, too bad Disney is too damn cheap to put any of this on DVD.....
But I keep buying them... why.... why.... ?
Guess I've been hypmotized!

The reason my DVD player was the "most expensive" gift I've ever received.

Now I'm glad I didn't purhcase any of the Disney DVDs. What about the more recent movies from recently, like Mulan, Aladdin, and The Lion King?
Have you tried any of the James Bond DVDs? There are alot of cool features they added to the series and the sound is awesome. I love GoldenEye Special Edition and am thinking about getting Tomorrow Never Dies.
So far my DVD library is:
The Matrix
Saving Private Ryan
GoldenEye Special Edition
Austin Powers 2

I haven't seen Mulan and Lion King and Aladdin aren't expected for a few years so I'm playing with LD for those. The quality is primo. I'll have to get the JB LD to compare.
