As a non-fan of the original comic, I find the movie boring and think that the movie dragged on far too long trying to explain the comic.
It has the potential to become an excellent movie but yet a lot of talents were wasted here since there are far too many characters in this movie.

What you say is true, but I think the visual look of the film is so fantastic that it makes up for it. Also, the movie improves a lot in the second half. There are 4 battles and each one is quite interesting. And that shot of Ekin from behind as he's turning his head, hair blowing in the wind, techno music going crazy could be the most stylish thing I've ever seen.
The DVD is the best-looking Hong Kong DVD I've ever seen, rivalling Hollywood non-anamorphic transfers. The quality of the extras and menus were the first of its kind for HK DVDs, as far as I know.

I personally think that the movie is great. It is technically top of the line as far as HK standards go. I've seen the comics as well and am not a huge fan either, but the movie did a good job telling Wind and Cloud's story. It's not a gripping story but an alright story. I heard they were planning a sequel though.
I enjoyed A Man Called Hero more. To me it had a much better story. The ending was a little corny but all in all it was a great movie.

IMHO. .. I liked Storm Riders more than A Man Called Hero b/c I liked the action more. SSR has a lot of cool detail and special effects that US producers should adopt more.
2 thumbs up for ST.

I agree with Movie Nut on some points. The film did drag a little, and there was more fighting in the matrix than there was in storm riders. The special effects were unbelievable, and the fantasy martial arts did come across very well... I don't want to compare it to the comic, cause I only ever saw one issue. I saw the film on VCD, but I'd love to get hold of the DVD.
Anyone care to post a quick review of the DVD, including some of the technical details. Much appreciated.

I don't know how technical I can be but the DVD is Awsome!!! I own about Eight HK DVD's and have seen quite a few others and alls i can say is that the work was put into this DVD. Animated menus, lots of special features(making of feature that's almost an hour long, creating special effects, bios, trailers, posters,...)both features are in chinese without subtitles but still freakin' cool. But what will get you is the chapter selection...i won't spoil it if you haven't seen it yet. picture quality and sound are awsome. I too was one who had only seen this on vcd and was satisfied until i got the DVD. the difference...WOW!

Yes, that's the one. Tai Seng is releasing it domestically but some of us have had the import which also costs a pretty penny. As far as TSR goes, the DVD is excellent. As a martial arts film, it's not that good but as a fantasy film, it's great. The plot is mediocre at best but the visuals are excellent.
