Subject: Tarzan defective discs share the same part number - E1690
<snip from "The Digital Bits" Web Site>
There's a theory brewing on the newsgroups, and I think there might be
something to it. It seems that a number of people with bad copies of the disc
have noticed that the defective discs seem to share the same part number -
E1690. This is found on the printed face of the disc, near the edge. And those
who feel their disc has good Dolby Digital 5.1 English audio have noticed that
their discs have a part number of E7401. I just got my copy of Tarzan, and
after careful examination, it appears that the audio is okay. And indeed, it's
got the E7401 number on the edge. Unfortunately, this doesn't help you identify
the disc in the packaging - mine says E1691 on the back of the keep case, which
doesn't match the disc. But if this theory holds up, it may be a way for those
who already have the disc to know if theirs is bad. This theory would make
sense if (as is likely) more than one replicator was used to press the discs -
one of them may have had a bad master, and each plant's pressing would be
identified by a different part number...

Mine has E7401 on it & I'm pretty sure it is messed up. I noticed the left rear was as loud as the front rear & almost constant, while the rear right hardly had any action besides some soft music. I don't know how much rear action there would be in this movie- unless the rear right is also messed up. I turned the rear left down & the rear right up & it sounded more normal. So I'm not too confident in the disc # telling you whether it's okay or not.
