The DVD[1] is coming out in the next couple of weeks so I assume noone has seen it yet... How's the movie though? I've never heard of it before, but it sounds pretty good.
Just curious.
TIA

I've only seen this film on video so I can't say anything about the quality of the upcoming DVD.
I think "Cross of Iron" is a very good film which was directed by Sam Peckinpah. I was just thinking about this film fondly last night when Bravo aired a doc about Peckinpah that included Jason Robards reading from the director's personal papers.
I'm not a fan of the war movie genre. In general, the point of most of those films is "war is hell, war is bad, war is senseless." However, this film is much more complex and more interesting than your typical war flick. If you are a Peckinpah fan then you should absolutely rent this film. If you haven't seen his other films already, check out the director's other work including "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" and "The Ballad of Cable Hogue."

DVD Talk Gold Edition
I really like the movie but I'm worried about the DVD. Everyone has it listed as pan and scan so my hunch is that they just did a straight transfer from the old laserdisc. I'll wait until this one comes out and see if it is indeed P&S only. I sure hope not.
