Has anyone seen the Jules and Jim DVD release from Fox Lorber? If so, could you please provide comment as to the quality of the transfer, extras, etc...?
Thanks,

-Jon

Fox Lorber's "Jules and Jim" is a good disc. The print is from Janus Films, and looks like it's the same restored master used on the Home Vision Cinema VHS version. The image is very clean, crisp black and white, and the subtitles are legible (white w/black outline). The audio commentary is fair, but not great (more anecdotal than analytical). There are theatrical trailers for most of the Truffaut Fox Lorber DVD releases, and a Jeanne Moreau tribute montage (nothing extraordinary). I bought the DVD expressly for this fine film, and the extras are really more ancillary material that did not affect my decision to purchase it.

The transfer is quite good but the edition really shines in the commentary done by an editor of Premier Magazine, well researched and in depth. It has the usual line of trailers of the Fox Lorber Trauffaut Dvds.
