Just watched "Life is beautiful" on DVD and loved it. Just wondering if anyone has the Mostro, Il (The Monster) also directed by Roberto Benigni?? Currently this movie has 7.5/10 on imdb.com and 4.5star on amazon.com...

Il Monstro is not as refined as Life is Beautiful. It is best described as bawdy and farcical, with a lot of sexual innuendo, since the premise is based on Loris (Benigni) being mistaken for a serial rapist. There are a few downright hilarious episodes (such as the police woman trying to seduce him), but it does not have the tragic elements of Life is Beautiful, and is basically slapstick comedy. The DVD is fairly stripped down, with only the theatrical trailer added, but it is anamorphic. I preordered the DVD because I was already a fan of Benigni before Life is Beautiful. You'll see moments of brilliance in this film that will reveal itself completely in Life is Beautiful.
