I've been itching to pick the disc up but not quite sure about the special features on the disc. So far, no DVD site I know of have put up a review. Can anyone give me a run-down on the transfer and sound? And (most important) how's the commentary and the documentary on Monte Hellman?

I'd just like to echo this request for a review of the DVD. I saw this movie in a film class I took back in college and I thought it was amazing. I was really pleasantly surprised when I heard it was coming to DVD, but I never quite got around to pre-ordering it.

Sorry, I haven't listened to the commentary. The sound is OK -AC3- and the 2.35:1 video varies from OK in daylight scenes to terrible in some night scenes. While the video is anamorphic, this DVD is proof that anamorphic video does not guarantee good video. In some of the night scenes large dark areas are alive. It's like millions of dark colored bugs are crawling. I'm sure there's a technical term for this.I tried the DVD on two different systems, with the same results.
