I got the set today and these DVDs are AWESOME!
The extras, particularly on the Connery and Moore films, are a nice blend of new documentaries and material created at the time of release. The movies (I have only watched parts of Goldfinger and Live and Let Die so far) have never looked better and the sound is great. It took me 2 hours to get through all the extras on just 2 discs.
MGM has done a great job on these and should be commended.

I've been hearing that the menus for these discs were pretty cool too. Any thoughts?
My set shipped Friday, so I'm hoping I'll get it by Monday or Tuesday! Can't wait!

Blade, the menus are excellent, they are all similar in layout, but each one has a few cool things unique to the movie. They follow the same basic format as the TND: SE menus. Forgot to mention them in my post,
I can not get over how impressive these DVDs are, MGM did an outstanding job.

just curious but have you these movies on the original separate discs before. if so, any differences from the boxset ones, ie menu, extras, etc?

For those who haven't got these yet, get them!!
Run down of cool stuff:
The menus are excellent. At the beginning of each disk, it tells you to "Activate" your system now, while looping through a pretty cool graphic (slightly different each disk).. Hit play, and it smoothly (sometimes not so smooth) goes to the menu with some excellent surround effects.
The special features for each disk are great. Loads of cool stuff.. Documentaries, TV spots, Trailers, etc. Every disk also has a preview for the tommorow never dies playstation game, but it's small and unobtrusive, which is nice, because it's not that cool.
Downsides:
Two of the four movies I've watched so far (i just got it two days ago!) only have a pro-logic soundtrack. I believe these were Goldfinger and Live and Let Die. The Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound in Thunderball is excellent.
Also the film stock they used for the LALD transfer was rather poor quality. Noticable problems and glitches with it. Still very good, considering. The transfers for the older movies aren't excellent, but good none the less. You really can't expect much better. For Thunderball a very good film stock was used, making it one of the better transfers I've seen, given the age of the movie.
I noticed the layer changes in a couple of the movies. A definite noticable pause, longer than I would consider normal. But it was well crafted into a scene change, so that it didn't seem all that noticable (In my "suicide kings" the layer change happens mid-word, which is annoying as hell...)
All in all very, very good quality DVD's. The documentaries (which I wasn't expecting) are the best part.. I had no idea Thunderball was such a huge movie release at that time (I'm a bit too young to recall that
)...

I liked Thunderball better than Goldfinger. I'm surprised when people talk about the Connery Bonds they mention Dr. No and Goldfinger first. Thunderball is my favorite Bond film so far. I haven't watched License to Kill, Goldeneye, or Tomorrow Never Dies yet(on DVD).

according to WWW.Digitalbits.com the latest Bond Flick should see DVD treatment after fall Quarter 2000. Along with Casino Royale & Never do that agai,... Sorry, I mean Never Say Never!
