Wow!!

This is a great disc!

Video: At times there's spots, but mostly it's clean. It has an Anamorphic transfter. I have never seen Ferris in widescreen either, there's definitely a need for it here.

Frye... Frye... Frye... Frye...

Sound: This is the best part! The soundtrack is awesome, very well mixed. Expample you can hear jeanie cruise off in her car in the begining while Ferris talks with his parents.

Extras: Mainly just a John Hughes commentary (better than nothing) I haven't listened to the whole but it sounds a little dry.... but (sorta?) informative.

I should mention the lack of movie trailer. That would have been nice.

I just got done watching this one and I
too think this is a nice disc. The
picture is clean and the eighties
sountrack is 5.1 is terrific! There
could have been more extras (there are
none - other than the Hughes commentary)
and Hughes does sound pretty dry..but if
you are a fan of this film I don't think
you will be disappointed.

Ferris Buellar was a must buy for us. This movie is a classic & to finally watch something other than a grainy rental copy was pure joy. While it would've been fun to have a trailer, or maybe interviews with the cast, the John Hughes commentary was enough. He isn't the most enthusiastic fellow, but does give us insight into the film. Now if only we could get Pretty in Pink!

I agree with the comments above - excellent DVD, of course I really love this movie so I am biased.

John Hughes does use the same montonous tone throughout the commentary but it is informative, especially regarding the actors & the secenes that were improvised.

I had no choice, I had to buy this. Having cable TV, I've seen "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" at least once a month for several years now. It would be criminal to continue watching it on TV when I could have the DVD. My copy just arrived today, so I'll watch it sometime over the weekend. I'm disappointed by the lack of extras, I would have liked to see the trailer.

I have finally thrown the 80s together - well, almost. At least John Hughes-wise - just got Ferris along with Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, and Weird Science! Now all we need is... Fast Times at Ridgemont High! I'm gonna add Risky Business to my collection soon.

Also notable, this is the first time it's been presented in 2.35!!!! The LD version was letterboxed at 1.85 (which wasn't terrible, due to the fact that's its a Super 35 film).
