Usually I wouldn't bother buying DVD if it was only pan and scan. However, Peter Weir's "Fearless" is one of my favorite movies. I'll buy it if I hear that the transfer is good. Can't wait for the studio come to its senses and make a widescreen or (crossing my fingers) a collector's edition. Anyone have comments about the quality of this disc?

Fearless is also one of my favorite movies so even if the movie was released in Warner's budget price, I just couldn't resist and therefore I bought it. The picture quality is about the same as VHS. Don't expect much more than that.
Too bad because this film, and this director, deserves a much better treatment than this.

I agree, LJS. Peter Weir is one of my favorites. Too bad that quality of this DVD isn't better. The recent releases of "Witness", "The Year Of Living Dangerously", and "Gallipoli" have all had great transfers. And although I'd love to have a running commentary by Weir, the short interviews included on 2 of those discs are excellent. Now if only Criterion would make an edition of "The Truman Show", as Weir's direction is what truly made that film for me.
