I have seen Ninja Scroll (not on DVD)and I loved it... What a great movie! And I have heard the DVD is great so I will probably get it.
Can anyone recommend other titles of the same caliber?

Well Ninja Scroll was a very good DVD, my bud let me borrow it, as I let him borrow my copy of Ghost in the Shell. I can tell you that GinS is a great DVD. The story is a Blade Runner-like feel, and the picture/sound quality are quite good. If you like anime, this is a must have for your collection.

I also liked Iria:Zeiram the Animation. Action genre, futuristic setting. It's a little more expensive because all 6 episodes are on the one (dual layered) disc. Retail is $40, so you should be able to find it for $24.
Record of Lodoss War is also quite good if you like the fantasy/RPG theme. All 13 episodes in a 2-disc box. Retail is 60$, so you should be able to find it for $42.
There are many, many more great Anime DVDs out there. If you want (much) more info, check out http://www.animeondvd.com/

Thanks for your comments about Iria, Peken.. you pushed me over the edge on that one. I've got Lodoss on order as well.
One anime I don't see mentioned too often is Bubblegum Crisis. It is older, and the plot is fairly simple on an episode to episode basis, but if you have a so or wife who isn't in to the ultra-violent anime (Ninja Scroll) then they might enjoy it. That and Ghost in the Shell are the only ones I've been able to get my wife to watch so far.
(what is Bubblegum crisis? 4 women in armor suits fighting the bad guys.. standard anime plot, right?
There are 3 dvds, 8 episodes total. There is also a new series, Bubblegum Crisis 2040 that rewrites the plot a bit)
