Does anyone have a review on this Disc? I would like to pick it up with the slew of coupons available right now but would like to get some opinions on it first. Thanks!

I thought it was great.
Nice transfer, good sound, good acting, good plot.
It sure doesnt LOOK like a almost 10 year old movie.
It got a few extras,(production notes, cast
& crew filmographies).
I love it.

What I liked best is the detail of the FIRE.. WOW! It looks as if its really coming towards you. Sound is superb. Of course, the main reason I bought it is to help complete my DeNiro collection...

Not to be a party crasher here, But BACKDRAFT was really a sub-par dvd, The image was grainy, glittery and had poor color stability, This was clearly a re-hashed Laserdisc transfer from many years ago, I am not the only person who feels this way, as often this title turns up on worst DVD ever lists. To make matters worse, The film is not even presented in it's full 2.35 aspect ratio. It's more about a 2.10 on this dvd.

I sold off my copy of this disc about a month after I bought it

Hmmm...that's interesting. A SE edition would be nice, I guess.
But...last time I saw it, it was VHS Pan & Scan, so, the DVD was at least a better presentation.

Unfortunately, the DVD was one of Universal's first releases . . . it doesn't have the best transfer . . . the sound is DD 5.1 though . . .

However, the movie is one of my all-time favorites . . . great story and action.
