Anybody seen any of the Jackie Chan DVD's released by Simitar? How are the transfers? I assume that they are dubbed. Are they widescreen? I bought a couple of them on VHS many months ago and they were ghastly. Are the DVD's any better?

No, they're probably not much better than your VHS copies. I bought a box of 5 of them, and of them I've only watched New Fists Of Fury. The original chinese audio was decent to listen to, but there are no English subtitles so I was pretty much forced to listen to the awful awful very-high-pitched English dub.
As for video quality, it actually looked better on my 14" monitor than on my 27" TV. (Dxr2 kit)
It doesn't bother me that much since I paid about $5 per disc, and there were some decent fight scenes in the movie I did watch. But I have soooo many other DVDs to watch before these...

You are not going to find nice new quality transfers, but what can be expected for $5? These are better than the previous VHS versions and they do include clips from some TV interview Jackie did. If you are a Chan completist then these discs are a must. If you are not a completist, pick up Half a Loaf of Kung Fu and Dragon Fist. These have the most redeeming qualities....as movies that is. The DVDs still stink.
