I thought this was a pretty good movie--one of the more entertaining kids movies I've ever seen. And the visuals are spectacular. The computer animation is truly incredible.
A Bug's Life is also a pretty good dvd. It contains a 2.35 to 1 transfer (which I watched), and a full frame transfer. This is ideal, becuase a lot of kids might not want to watch such a wide picture. The quality of the video seemed superb to me. I would have appreciated more supplements on the disc, but for a Buena Vista disc, it is suprisingly good: Both versions of the outtakes that were shown in theatres, and a an academy award winning short film by Pixar, which is incredibly twisted and funny.
Reccomended for at least a rental--a definite purchase if you have kids.

Forget the kids. It's a fun and funny movie.

I always use this disc as a demo for my pc-dvd rom. Creative Labs should pay me commission as I've had 2 friends immediately go out and buy one after seeing how beautiful a movie can look on a pc monitor...

I recommend it as a buy, not a rental. I didn't think it was very good at all the first time around, but it got a lot better with repeated viewings, IMO. Pixar really filled this flick with lots of little funny things (like in the bug city - no spoiler, don't worry) that are easy to miss the first time around. A great movie for kids and adults. --Jim

How does it compare to Antz? I have a little 2 year old nephew, which one of these movies would be appropriate?

ajjohnson,

As a kids movie, A Bug's Life is much better. ANTZ, IMO, is more adult oriented.
