Does anyone own this film? Is it worth paying the extra money for it? If anyone has input, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have it. I think a Special Edition is always worth having over the movie-only version. If a movie is worth buying, it's worth buying in its highest form--that's my motto! It has a few small, but interesting, behind-the-scenes featurettes and interview segments, director's commentary (though apparently the same on that's on the movie-only version), and a boatload of theatrical and TV trailers. It may be somewhat weak by special edition standards, but the limited extras have their interesting qualities, and the film's transfer is stupendous. I guess the determination must be yours. I'm a sucker for special editions, but you may be a little more frugal with your bucks. Maybe if you've got a killer coupon for Reel.com...

I agree . . . a special edition is always better than a regular version.

Even though the "Scream: Collector's Edition" is not as packed with extras as some of the other special DVDs out there, it is still worth getting over the standard version . . . a commentary, featurette, interviews, great picture & sound, etc. . . . not bad.

A while ago, this DVD was mistakenly advertised in a K-mart ad for $14.99. They were actually referring to the video at that price, but put a picture of the Collector's Edition DVD. I took the ad and pricematched it at Circuit City . . . great deal!

I had always heard that the SE version of Scream was going to have all the gore that was edited out of the final version. That is the only reason I had thought about getting the SE. Please respond it anyone knows what I am talking about.

The infamous director's cut that you are referring to was not and will not be released on DVD, because Buena Vista has a policy of not releasing unrated material on DVD.

Warning, spoiler below!

Man, if I can't get all the goodies I want, then I will just break down and get the regular version of the film. What a weak SE! I usually don't have bad things to say about the Disney folks, but come on! I just want to see the guys stomach get ripped out!

If you want to see the "Director's Cut" (which adds an addition 20 seconds or so of gore), you're going to have to get the laserdisc. Both DVD versions are the theatrical version.

I bought the "VHS" before I had a dvd player and it has everything in it. You can see the guys stomach getting ripped out....and the girl hanging from the tree longer....and some other stuff...which isn't but just about 15-20 seconds of footage, which isn't worth it anyway...if you see the regular version its alright i didn't hardly even notice it....
