I actually just rented and watched this disc today. I was very unimpressed with the transfer, to tell you the truth. I always think that the studios' use of weak prints for the transfers of relatively new movies is inexcusable. There are scratches all over the place, and there's even one shot where it looks like the film itself "jumped" in the transfer. The sound is only pro-logic, but ok. that's my initial reaction, anyway.

I agree the transfers not that good. Also, no extras...not even a trailer. However, I wanted this movie badly and had to take what I could get.

You have enough comments about the transfer, so I'll comment only about the movie.
The Hudsucker Proxy is one of my top 20 or so favorite movies of all time, so I highly recommend it. Jennifer Jason-Leigh gives a great performance that would have been right at home in His Girl Friday or The Philadelphia Story. Tim Robbins and Paul Newman also both do great work here. The story is an interesting social satire that pokes fun at the American Dream, big business, and greed, and it does so with a fair amount of humor. The set design and the whole visual style of the film is just phenomenal. This is my favorite Coen brothers film.
In my opinion, regardless of the transfer quality and the lack of supplements, this DVD is worth much more than the $7.92 it would cost you to purchase it at BigStar using a $10 coupon.
