DVD releases should use the logo theme first heard on the disk to establish the "comfort" listening level for a particular disk. Blasting out my eardrums with the THX logo and then having to chase my low frequency drivers down the street to retrieve them is not my idea of sport. I then get into the film to discover the overall volume is much, much too low! With such a technically excellent medium, why not add some common sense?

I agree! Every Freakin' movie. I have to play with the volume for the first couple minutes. That THX sound is annoying, too.

Whenever I need to skim my pool, I just open the patio doors and let THX do the work

Heaven is multiple subwoofers!
