Just watched it last night. Picked it up during a sale. It's a bare-bones disk, no extras, but at least it is widescreen. The sound and picture were decent, not outstanding. Wouldn't pay much more that $10 for it.

I own Stand By Me and remember watching it for the first time thinking how life-like the video quality was. I haven't watched it since, but know I wasn't hallucinating. Highly recommended. It's a Columbia/Tri-Star disc= best quality discs available.

I just picked up STAND BY ME using a coupon. It's an older movie with mediocre sound quality in the original source. But the transfer is excellent. I owned the Laserdisc at one time. I think the DVD is better. If you enjoy the film this DVD is a good bet. I agree that Columbia/Tri-Star = great quality. I have not seen one of their DVD's that I own have less than superior quality.
