A low budget slasher that came out as the genre was waning. Teens spend the night in a clothing store of a friend's dad. Not much in the way of a story here and the first 40 minutes of the run time is alot of filler scenes. A film like this would never be made today given the proliferation of LGBTQ promotion today.

I didn’t this this was terrible, but I doubt I’ll rush out and buy the Terrorvision release either.
Felt similar to Chopping Mall once it got going.

I did not like this.
A furniture store slasher; I get it - this is one of those stupid films to enjoy for being dumb. Slow buildup with obvious red herrings. I never understood the yuppie rich kid characters some horror movies focus on, it's a fashion minded cool kid movie to a point some of the kids dont feel real (except Paul... Wait his name is Shawn, not that there's much character development). Is that guy wearing a bathing suit to a furniture store overnight party? I do miss 80s girl hair especially without top (bummer, Bunky Jones died at 49 in 2015 but she will always have Hide & Go Shriek). I feel like you can tell a lot about a horror script by it's choice in victims; and maybe I'm reading too much into it but this film feels like it has some wonky politics. The cross dressing killer is an antiquated trope but seems to add something compared to the prim "teenagers" with a sort of wealth is right protection of value against the cross dressing (or even criminal) dredges of society. The gimmick of the killer wearing victim clothing does provides a few good visual gags. I spent some time rooting for Shawn because he seemed more human teenager here (should that youngster even get a sex scene?)... but that didnt work out well (cool kill though, bring on more gore). This party sucks, they had one beer and are all sitting coupled up in a dark furniture store - there's no pretense of anything but fake sex (this film needs a better soundtrack at least). Joyless stuff; nothing against awkward semi-group parallel sex in dad's closed store but whoever those that idea oozed eroticism probably does think transgender people are scary. Low body count stuff tested my patience, unlikeable crew, and the furniture store set could not look more like a lazily propped studio sound stage. I blind bought the Code Red blu-ray and miss that company even if Hide & Go Shriek was a slow moving bore with confused/off subtext... but at least Donna Baltron does a brief striptease. Elevator kill is worth seeing.
If you're not safe making it in your dad's closed furniture store; where can you ever be safe?

This was a film that I felt definitely had an 80's vibe to it without a lot of gore. I think that the film seemed very familiar and that made it comfortable and easy to watch, the kind of movie that you put in after a hard day's work and just veg out watching it. I agree that the earlier comment about this movie not fitting in today's marketplace with the LGBTQ sensibilities. Besides the main villain and hero, the couples were all straight and caucasian. You couldn't make this movie today.

Hopefully I don’t own this one. Not a slog to get thru, just didn’t stand out.

I agree with this, but the difference is Chopping Mall is actually entertaining.
I don't have really anything good to say about this film with the exception that it was cool seeing Karate Kid III's "Mike Barnes" in his first movie. This was a year before that. Did we all look that young and thin back then?
I don't really care if the killer is gay/transvestite/transexual, but it is just such a lame excuse for that to be a reason to be a killer. And that was obviously a tired trope even by the time this movie came around. Funny though...the powers that be are currently bringing that trope back but into our everyday reality. And it is as much a piece of fiction now as it was then. Lame.
And even the kills are dull in this one. Big
for me.

Yep, agreed. I'm on the "Chopping Mall did it better" train.
This movie didn't leave me much of an impression to write about even, sorry.
Not for me, 1.5 out of 5 stars.

Man, this is a top tier slasher. I love the sleazy opening. It makes me feel like trash, that's cinema. Absolute Cinema!
