These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.

The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.

Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.

Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

Did anyone else buy Linnea Quigley's re-release 45?

So this was supposed to be over the top horrible lines and acting bad, right? At that, it's sort of brilliant, and a lot of fun.

Love the ending where he's supposedly talking to a woman, but you can actually hear the actor on the other end of the phone and it is obviously male.

I agree the not great acting and strangely poor production values added to the charm. According to IMDB 'all of the dialogue and sound effects had to be re-recorded in post-production because of a mix-up with the live sound recording during the shooting of the film'; so that might account for some it what we're picking up on. Linnea Quigley's death scene was unintentionally funny (and what an inventive kill).

When it came to van explosions they didn't skim on the budget (was that taken from another source?). Also, second best head exploding scene ever. Kevin Tenney really needs to blow more stuff up in his movies.

Excellent melting body gag.

I think that explains the acting. The performances were really bad, which is a shame because by the end, I thought there was a decent story buried in there. It's not one I foresee revisiting all that often, but it did have sort of a low-rent charm.

Hard to believe this was made AFTER the much more polished Night of the Demons Or even Witchboard. Sound error aside, it also looks like someone’s first-time effort. But as others have said, the badness ended up having some charm.

I love the 'not a sequel to Witchboard' disclaimers.

Kevin Tenney seemed to make a career out of these witch/demonic possession films

I wish he had done more. I love Witchboard and Night of the Demons. I've heard this one is significantly worse, so I've tempered my expectations for tonight's viewing.

Not bad, but doesn't quite have the campy feel to it that the other Tenney films had

Commentary track is worth a listen for anyone who enjoyed the film.

Man the comments on the acting didn't do it justice. It felt like watching aliens doing their best human impersonations. The dialogue is full of one liners and jokes, and practically none of them landed due to the dubbing. Fun flick, though.

Yes the pretty stilted reading of the dialog seemed pretty bad, but I still had a good time with it.

There were a whole slew of evolution jokes, and he even managed to joke about okra....

Think we should be able to count reading DaveyJoe in this subforum as a horror comedy wildcard entry at least.
