DVD Talk review of 'Das Boot' (Blu-ray)
I read DVD Savant's DVD review of Das Boot at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=48949 and...
I have a big question. What is this "director's cut version" with 208 minutes?
Is there so a "real" Director's Cut++ here? The "Uncut" complete film with 293 minutes? 93 minutes more?
http://www.amazon.com/Das-Boot-Original-Uncut-Version/dp/B0001XAOLQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1309431143&sr=8-3

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Das Boot' (Blu-ray)
Das Boot was originally filmed as a 6-hour TV miniseries. After you remove commercials, that's the 293-minute "Original Uncut Version," which is available on DVD.
A 149-minute condensed version of the movie was released theatrically in 1981. The movie was later re-released theatrically in 1997 as a 209-minute "Director's Cut."
The Blu-ray contains both of the two theatrical cuts, but does not have the TV cut.
