DVD Talk review of 'The Cocoanuts'
I read Jamie S. Rich's DVD review of The Cocoanuts at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=48300 and...
Most of the Paramount Marx Bros were censored for later reissue as the pre-code ear was over. The pieces were not kept and thus there is material missing. Horsefeathers is a good example. I was surprised recently that the first MGM title, Night at the Opera is also missing material, even in the opening credits. The Cocoanuts(1929)is the worst in pictorial quality and MCA has not used trailer material that has been in documentaries. There is also color footage on a set of one film that the former Sabucat had on their former website.
