DVD Talk review of 'I Am Number Four' (Blu-ray)
I read Brian Orndorf's DVD review of I Am Number Four at dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=50041, and I know two sorts of people: The ones that didn't see “I Am Number Four” in the cinema because of the negative reviews, and the ones that saw the movie on the Big Screen and liked it.
I saw it on the Big Screen several times since I liked it. So for me it is out of the question not to buy the DVD. DJ Caruso did a great job with the movie, and that does especially include the casting. But I like the music, too. My favorite song from the movie is “Letters from the sky” (Civil Twilight), but I like “Shelter” (The XX), too.
And when I say it's a great cast for the story, this of course includes leading actor Alex Pettyfer, whose impersonation of “Number Four” I enjoyed very much. And I won't discuss his “unconvincing American accent” as far as this movie is concerned, because he isn't impersonating an American at all, he is impersonating an Alien. And since when do Aliens require to have a convincing American accent ? Teresa Palmer, who is also impersonating an Alien, even kept her Australian accent !
But since there are more movies with him to come (In Time [2011], Overdrive [2012], Magic Mike [2012], Shunt [2013]), I guess in the long run we all will have to get used to his accent(s).
