DVD Talk review of 'You've Got Mail' (Blu-ray)
I read Todd Douglass Jr.'s DVD review of You've Got Mail at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=46168 and...
While I agree that's it's not a great transfer, I wouldn't call it a "small step up from the previous DVD releases." After watching it, I popped in the DVD and immediately noticed the differences one being that the DVD version is pretty dull in terms of colors and full of dust and scratches throughout (not surprising since the DVD was one of the earlier releases and they didn't do a new transfer for the Deluxe Edition that came out a couple years back).
The Blu-ray by contrast has far more color (perhaps a little overblown) so it does have a certain punch to it compared with the DVD. Someone suggested to me that this might've been the transfer Warner used for the Laserdisc release, which makes sense since I highly doubt Warner would put any more money into it for a new transfer.
But overall, good review, just wanted to say something about the video transfer.
