DVD Talk review of 'Moonlight - The Complete Series'
I read Jeffrey Kauffman's DVD review of Moonlight - The Complete Series at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=35964 and...
You must never have seen the series "ANGEL", which this show is very closely modeled after. It's especially ironic that you don't mention that series at all, considering you do mention 'Law & Order' star Elisabeth Rohm who WAS on "ANGEL" playing a similar character to the one Sophia Myles played on this - the resemblance is hardly coincidental!
Sossamon's character has echoes of Darla, a similar character on "ANGEL" who made the lead character a vampire, supposedly died, only to return in the present as human...this show also resembles "Forever Knight", a Canadian vampire/cop series in the 1990's.
So essentially, "Moonlight" is based on two previous shows that handled the concept far better than this did.

I did watch Angel occasionally, though I had completely forgotten about Elisabeth Rohm being on the show--thanks for reminding me.

Add to that "ANGEL" co-creator David Greenwalt was a part of this show (but left due to 'medical' reasons) and the connections are complete.
