Yes, there are a lot of plot holes, sense-and logic-defying decisions and outright stupidity in this show. However, if you were a woman, Mr. Kauffman, and I have a feeling you are not, you would never question the Commander's decision to sleep with Lampton, as portrayed by Hugh Bonneville. Just take my word for it, okay?
