Recommend horror title blind buys from MSN guide?
Hi, found an alternative horror movie guide today while surfing around. Some of the titles sounded interesting, and being a horror enthusiast found that I had seen only 12 of these "lesser known" recommendations, thought I would ask before blind-buying (one doesn't seem to exist on DVD). Most are fairly cheap on dvd, but I couldn't find any of them locally for rental so they would be online purchases.
The ones that sounded interesting were...
Raw Meat (Death Line) (MGM dvd available)
Reeker (Paramount dvd available)
Immortality (Wisdom of Crocodiles) (Beuna Vista dvd available)
Habit (Fox Lorber dvd available)
I, Zombie (MTI dvd not readily available)
Let the Right One In (Lat den ratte komma in) (not found)
[REC] (Quarantine is the US remake of this Spanish film)

Of all those listed I have seen these:
Black Christmas 1974
The Brood
Carnival of Souls
The Keep
They Came From Within
The Orphanage
The Frighteners
Land of the Dead
Lifeforce
Habit
Habit & They Came From Within (aka Shivers) are out of print on dvd.
The Keep is not available on dvd.
Out of all those I would recommend the top 3 as blind buys
being that those are my favorites of the ones I have seen.

A few comments follow. I would write more (I've seen almost all of those on the list), but I'm beat.
- Reeker: Clever little flick that is much better the less you know about it.
- The Descent: Excellent the first time (characters, scares), but chills don't hold up on repeat viewings.
- Wendigo Oh, for the love of all that is good and holy, my advice is to avoid this. It's one of the most boring horror movies I've had the displeasure of sitting through.
- Habit: Another one (like Wendigo) by Larry Fessenden. This one is not all bad, but I wouldn't want to sit through it again. There's much better indie horror out there. Fessenden is overrated.

^I second this take on Wendigo - way overrated. Let The Right One In is just now arriving in theaters in the US ....

Another high recommendation for 'The Descent'. This movie has it all and has become one of my favorite horror movies of all-time!
I've seen The Descent multiple times and I would say that the chills, thrills and scares held up very well for me on repeat viewings.
